#004.5 Boudicca’s Revenge: Boudicca vs. Paulinus and the Aftermath. Part 5.

ABOUT THIS EPISODE

In the time around 60 AD when the Romans were occupying what would later become the country of England, a grand rebellion took place. The fight was taken to the Romans by the fierce warrior Queen Boudicca of the Iceni tribe of Briton. Boudicca is one of the most famous women of ancient history. She led a group of various tribes in Roman Briton against their Roman occupiers to try and kick Rome from their island. Roman governor Suetonius Paulinus was caught off guard by the rebellion and had to mount a hasty defense to protect Roman interests in Briton or risk the wrath of the Roman Emperor. The future of Roman Briton was at stake.

In Part 5, The Britons have been searching for Paulinus and the Roman troops to engage in battle and settle their quest for revenge. After being on the move for some time, the Britons detoured from a main Roman road nearby and ran into the Romans who were lying in wait on the expected detour route. Thousands of Soldiers and warriors have already been killed in the rebellion and three cities have been attacked by the Britons and destroyed. The Romans are fighting to hold their last grip of power on Roman Briton, and the Britons are fighting to destroy the last large military force left in Britannia and secure their freedom. The battle is here, and we are going to get into it in part 5, but we are also going to look at the aftermath of the battle and how it affected the lives of the main characters of our story and of the landscape of Britannia and the later day United Kingdom. #004.4 Boudicca’s Revenge: Devastation continues and the Roman Response. Part 4.

ABOUT THIS EPISODE

In Part 4, the rebellion continues with Boudicca’s army moving onto their next target after already sacking Camulodunum and Londinium. Tactics are changing in the rebellion as Boudicca sets out against new types of targets. Roman Governor Suetonius Paulinus is devising his own strategy to meet the rebellion head on. The Romans can’t let this insurrection continue and must find a way to put a stop to Boudicca and her Rampaging army while at the same time not losing their governing force of legions left on the island in a pitched battle with the Britons.

In Part 3, the rebellion has picked up steam in the form of an army now moving towards the Roman Capitol city of Camulodunum. Boudicca, the warrior queen of the Iceni has now surrounded herself with allies and an army and has started her march toward a Roman city in Briton. The Romans are going to experience their first taste of revenge from the Britons for taking their lands and it is going to be devastating. Let’s see how it unfolds as the warriors of the rebellion, now under full steam, march toward the unimpressed and unprepared Romans.

#004.2 Boudicca’s Revenge: The Rebellion Ignites. Part 2.

ABOUT THIS EPISODE

In Part 2, Things were progressing as normal in Roman Briton until King Prasutagus of the Iceni tribe passed away. A Roman entourage was sent to visit the Iceni and the now widowed Queen Boudicca to reaffirm Roman rule in the area. This Roman group led by Procurator Catus Decianus acted so harshly towards Boudicca and the local Iceni people that it would become known as the spark that ignited the people of Briton into open rebellion alongside Queen Boudicca against the Roman occupiers.

In Part 1, we are going to go into the details of how the Romans first set foot on the soil of Briton and the events that would lead up to Boudicca’s appearance on the scene. What started out as a cozy deal with King Prasutagus of the Iceni tribe and the Romans in Briton would end up turning into a disaster when the interests of Rome clashed with the local tribe’s beliefs.

#003.3 Eiffel Tower: Icon of Paris. Part 3.

ABOUT THIS EPISODE

One of the greatest landmarks of today’s world is the Eiffel Tower of Paris, France. In this series we will go into the details of its construction and what drove the undertaking of such an immense project. We also get to take a look at the great engineer Gustave Eiffel and his company and how they formulated the design, construction, and implementation of the tower. An average person seeing a picture of the Eiffel Tower today will quickly recognize it and think of Paris. The structure has been standing for over 100 years and has been featured in countless books, movies, and major events and is well known throughout the world. Let’s go into the details of how this great addition to the Paris skyline came into being.

In part 3, we will be going into the construction of the ingenious elevator system that the tower will employ to ferry passengers from the bottom to the grand view at the top. It is a race against time as the date of the Paris Exposition Universalle grand opening on March 31st 1889 draws nearer while the Tower is yet to be completed. Will the grand entrance of the World Exposition be completed on time for the Fair? Tune in to find out. We also go into important events regarding the tower that occurred after the monuments construction as the decades went by and as the tower continued to play a monumental role in the culture of Paris and France.
